Oxygen in , co2 out: The right ventricle of the heart pumps venous blood through the lungs after the body has absorbed oxygen and eliminated carbon dioxide. The venous blood pumps through the lung capillaries, oxygen is absorbed from air in the lungs and co2 diffuses out from the blood to lung air. The blood returns from lung to left side of heart which pumps the arterial oxygenated blood to body and brain.
