Sore throat: If this is a recent symptom such as a day or two, a low grade viral infection is most likely. A head cold may follow. Other possibilities include excessive dryness from air conditioning or something that irritated the throat. If this is a chronic throat discomfort an examination by an otolaryngologist is advisable. In the meantime try gargling with warm salt water and suck on soothing lozenges.
