Cold sore: The cold sore may have erupted because your immune system was weakened by the presence of a pharngitis or tonsillitis. Rapid strep throat culture, cbc and differential count and a monotest are indicated for further evaluation. Applying acyclovir ointment would treat the cold sore. Discuss this with your physician.
