May be reflux, with or without H pyloir a bacteria that needs antibiotics or eosinophilic esophagitis. Consider trying omeprazole 20 mg qd or famotidine 20 mg qd. May also be asthma for whihc an inhaler can help If SOB, chest pain call emergency services. F/U/ w/ MD

Hello. The cold will cause irritation to your mucus membranes in your airway however with your history of smoking, it’s a good idea to #1 stop smoking. Most preventable cause of cancer and #2, get your airway viewed by your ENT provider. The throat irritation can sometimes be a hint of a mucus membrane early change that could be cancer. Probably not but I’ve seen these changes in smokers.
