1yr old with viral bronchiolitis.saw pedi. and recieved bronciodolator and corticosteroid.couging and vomiting up phlem.is this normal for the meds?

Yes: Cough is a major symptom of bronchiolitis. When children cough it is fairly common for them to vomit because of weak les. No medicine has been found to be singularly effective in bronchilitis. The illness may last for 3-4 weeks. As long the child is not hypoxic and drinking well you just ride out the rough period. Antibiotics do not help as they are caused by viruses.

LES: Lower Esophageal Sphincter. It is a coil of muscle fibers in the lower end of esophagus (food pipe). Constriction of this muscle closes the lower end of food pipe and prevents food from refluxing.
