Yes: The episodes of inflammation are usually the reason a person gets diagnosed. More important for a person with this condition is that it can be a symptom of something more systemic that needs more evaluation and monitoring such as lupus or rheumatoid. Other structures or organ systems can be effected and need close monitoring and sometimes treatment.
