Sprain: Don't overdo the ibuprofen! try applying ice for a day, then switch over to heat. Pain with yawning strongly implies it's a muscle strain. Baby it for a few days. Try alternating your Ibuprofen with tylenol (acetaminophen) to avoid stomach complications.

Strain: A muscle strain may take days to a week to heal. Apply cold compresses for 48 hours and then switch to heat. Rub in liniment like bengay and try Naproxen by mouth with food. See your physician if symptoms persist or worsen.
