A member asked:

Would lupus cause a vein to swell up after iv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vein: People with lupus are more prone to clots. Sometimes you can get a clot in the vein the IV was placed in. If it is a superficial clot then it can be treated with warm compresses. You need to have it looked at though to assure it isn't an infection and that there isn't a clot in a deeper vein in the arm.
