Does lupus or rhumatod arthritus cause any problems having children ?

Not directly: Fertility is not impaired. The only caveat is if the individual with RA or sle has clotting issues known as antiphospholipid antibodies. The presence of these antibodies can increase the risk of miscarriages or stillbirths. Simple blood tests can detect them.

See below: Ra can go sometimes go into remission while pregnant but can return with vengance after delivery. In additon to antiphospholipid antibodies with lupus mentioned by my colleague, lupus patients can occasionally have problems with premature birth, preeclampsia, and low birth weight babies. Lupus should be under good control or remission at least 6 months before conception for the best outcomes.
