Probable: You need to be examined by your neurologist, but the symptoms of very severe vertigo can be at attack. The short term nature of the event make it less likely.

Multiple sclerosis: Multiple sclerosis is an inflammation of the covering (myelin) of nerves. After the myelin is depleted the nerve resembles a wire without insulation. There is very poor conduction. The head spins and numbness can be a flair of the multiple sclerosis with involvement of the brain stem. See your neurologist for an evaluation.

Could be: But, why aren't you taking specific MS medication, as prednisolone is useful only for relapses? Trust neurologist has been involved, but treatment is very critical over the long run.
