Hard to tell: It is difficult to tell with out seeing. Bite, fungal infection and contact bruise are some possible causes.

Needs to be checked: It needs to be checked as it can be a fungal infection.Insect bite which might have got infected .Consult your doctor or a dermatologist asap.
