Can a dermal filler cause harm if injected into an acne scar that is relatively new?

No Unless: Should be ok if scar is fully healed. Perhaps nothing is more gratifying for cosmetic patients than having an immediate correction of scars as a result of the injection of a dermal filler.

Should not: If the acne is actively infected, then injections should be avoided, but otherwise fillers can be used to try to reduce the depth of acne scars with variable results.

Unlikely: Most of the dermal fillers (except those which last years) do not usually cause side effects.
