Relaxation technique: In general, avoid using the bed for wakeful activities such as reading or watching tv. However, if reading or watching tv has helped in the past, continue to use them. Lie down in bed only if you are sleepy. Relaxation techniques can help you get into a state that is conducive to falling asleep. Well - it is: Important to treat the underlying depression. Using good sleep hygiene can also be effective. Retire ; rise same time each day. Keep bedroom dark ; cool ; use only for sleep. Turn off tv. No naps. Exercise regularly but not in late evening. No caffeine for 6 hrs before sleep. Keep dinner moderate sized ; finish at least 2 to 3 hrs before sleep. Can try warm milk, chamomile tea or melatonin along.
