No dreams--bad scene: Sleep deprivation can absolutely cause depression. Conversely depression can cause sleep problems. So which came first? Or are both problems secondary to a third disorder--even seemingly simple problems may not be so. If you are having both sleep problems & depression you need proper evaluation, which may include psychologic interview and a sleep study (polysomnogram).
