See answer : Blood tests for bun, creatinine, and GFR are used to determine if you have chronic kidney disease (ckd) and what stage (1 thru 5) based on GFR result. Urinalysis helpful to detect microscopic blood and protein both of which are common with kidney disease with degree of each related to type and severity of kidney disease. If significant protein (>1+), then 24-hr urine collection done to quantitate.
