Chronic neck pain: You should have at a minimum soem x-rays of your spine and upper thorax. If you were born with something you will find out. Rarely people will have only muscular probelms but if it si form cervical sppine anomalies or an extra rib, you will find out. Talk to your orthopedic doctor.

Yes: I'm not sure how old you are but there are come congenital conditions that can cause neck pain.
