Usually 1-3 hrs.: IV fluids for dehydration usually takes 1-3 hours depending on the level of dehydration and how much IV fluids needs to be given.

Rehydration: through an IV usually only takes a few hours, longer if medical problems such as heart or kidney disease are present.
