Methacholine : Methacholine is a chemical used in pfts to unmask asthmatics who's testing is equivocal. As such, it is inhaled and intended to cause constriction of the bronchioles or smaller passages in your lungs. When this happens you feel short of breadth and may wheeze. This may be a positive result and indicate you have asthma or your lungs are irritable from something else, such as a virus or allergy.
