A member asked:

Mom coming out of hosp.has tb in bones and chest but no cough.dr said i must take my 1 yr old for profilaxis to avoid infection.why and is this safe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: This is standard care for those who live with a TB patient. Just because she does not have a cough does not mean the germ will not make it into her saliva and eventually contaminate those living with her.
