Context: Is missing. PET scans are ordered specifically in order to evaluate for extent/spread of malignancies and they are in general poor differentiators when it comes to the type of disease. Most of the time they are assumed to be related to known disease, while some other times a biopsy might be needed in order to rule out a different condition, infectious/inflammatory or malignant, history critical.
