A member asked:

I had 2 hiv tests done. second a month after first and both were negative. is there any chance of test being wrong or not dectecting hiv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV testing: Do not know the history of your exposure. You should be retested at 3 and 6 months after initial contact. The tests are very sensitive and the follow-ups for specificity are quite accurate. If you want to be absolutely certain you can have an HIV RNA pcr, but this is expensive. Be careful. Dangerous out there.
