Depends: It is important to rule out adrenal insufficiency before starting thyroid replacement (especially if weight loss is unintentional). If you have not been taking thyroid replacement before, it is usually safe to start at 25-50mcg daily and titrate it based on blood work. It can also be dosed based on body weight.
