Herpes: 90% of those who get herpes do not get lesions, sores or symptoms. Blood testing for an acute exposure takes two routes. There is igm and igg antibody testing. The igm, if positive, is a sign of a new or acute infection. Igg antibodies represents a previous or 'older' infection. One cannot rely upon symptoms to tell them they have been exposed to a new herpes infection.
