Tonsil infection: We expect children to have 6-12 illnesses a year that can run from colds to pneumonia. You don't specify if your child had a strep throat. At one time seven strep throats in a year was a criterion for taking out tonsils or five in two years. Be patient, your child will outgrow her sore throats. If she has sleep apnea then tonsillectomy is indicated.
