A member asked:

Do all 30 day event monitors for your heart continuously record or do they only record when you press the button to record a symptom?

Depends: The behavior depends on the type of monitor. Some loop recorders record in a continuous loop, constantly recording over previous recordings and only keeping and transmitting tracings if a button is pushed (for symptoms) or if the machine detects an abnormal rhythm. Other monitors are dormant and only record when directed to do so by the patient.

Variable: They are not all alike. All will record when you press the button which makes sense for correlating troublesome symptoms with your heart rhythm. Most units will also automatically record if it detects certain abnormal rhythms for which it is programmed, even if you're not aware of them.
