Yes : You certainly can maintain a GFR of 72 as long as you control your blood pressure.

GFR: Gfr slowly falls with age in most of us. With controlled hypertension on an ace inhibitor the GFR may follow the normal slow decrement pattern. If underlying kidney disease is present, the ace usually will help slow decrements in function.
