Bradycardia: Slow heart rates that don't maintain adequate cardiac output can be a problem. Some people with sinus bradycardia can take beta blockers without slowing more. People who need higher heart rates to maintain cardiac output can have problems functioning if beta blockers slow their necessary rate too much. What happens depends on the individual and their responses. Caution is advisable.
