If hpt: Negative and you are late then your period is probably getting ready to start. If not really late, retest when it is late. It is not uncommon for periods to vary some like that with premenstrual symptoms.

Not unusual.: Not uncommon to have menstrual cramps. If you are having sexual intercourse ; don't want to get pregnant use a contraceptive. I'm not preaching just stating common sense. There are several reasons to have cramps. Too many to go over here. If cramps continue x 1 week and repeat hpt is still neg please see your gyn.
