A member asked:

My gallbladder is workin at 29% if it has to be removed is it better to remove it or just keep it to at least have it?

Think twice: If it has no stones, then i'd not rush to have it removed, as there is no guarantee you will feel better after its removal. Some actually feel worse. There are some that improve, but that depends on your symptoms. I find that diet (staying away from greasy, fried foods) can control lots of symptoms.

Biliary dyskinesia: There is significant controversy regarding the use of cholecystokinin stimulated gallbladder contraction (ejection fraction). This test is done when patients have possible gallbladder symptoms but without the typical stones. Cholecystectomy is associated with improvement in symptoms after surgery, but a high rate of improvement is also seen in patients that are treated medically. Talk with GI md.
