Depends on degree: Also depends on your background clinical condition and age. If you are healthy, a little protein in urine like trace or 1+ may take place if your urine is concentrated (little dehydrated), however, if you have kidney disease, this may mean that the condition is a bit worse. Proteinuria is an indication of filtering units disease that may vary from mild to severe depending on degree.

See below: Get urine protein to creatinine ratio on random sample- otherwise get 24 hour collection for protein and creatinine which is more cumbersome. These two tests will quantify the amount of protein.
