Can you explain if it's possible to test negative for lupus but actually have it?

Very rarely: There is a big debate if there is sle without ana. A recent major reference on sle suggested that 98% of patients are ANA positive, leaving 2% without. However, the patients still need to have typical clinical manifestations to qualify for the diagnosis.
