Can you explain if it's possible to get a false positive of cancer from a needle aspiration?

Yes: My pathology colleagues can probably answer this better but a needle aspirate often yields a few isolated cells that may look funky because of the trauma they went through during the procedure. Also, they are taken out of the context of their surroundings and you cannot see the architecture of the tissue. Pathologists are awesome but only god is perfect.
