No, it's not: Alcohol is a depressant drug, and may actually worsen or even cause depression, and alcohol also interferes with the metabolism of many drugs, including some antidepressants. A very occasional social drink is not forbidden, but regular use of alcohol should not take place. In women, a "couple" drinks exceeds safe drinking limits at 1/day, no more than 7/week and never more than 3 per occasion.

Not a good idea.: Mixing alcohol & some antidepressants may ^ risk of poorer concentration, dizziness, confusion, drowsiness, decreased motor coordination & impairment of judgment. Tyramine in diet (beer, wine, other alcoholic beverages)can cause significant adverse reaction if taking Monoamine Oxidase inhibitors.
