A physician who: Works in an emergency room might have herpes simplex virus 1 or 2. However, good hand washing technique and maintaining a clean work space are important issues for medical facilities. Although no one could guarantee you that you wouldn't catch an infection in the hospital setting - most physicians i know take disease transmission very seriously.
