Varies: The soft spot on the head can be expected to completely close by 2 years of age but it would not be unusual to no t be able to feel it by 9 - 12 months of age.

Can shrink or grow: The soft spot is a simple opening between plates of bone that can be tiny or > grapefruit in size. It can widen some or become narrower as a baby grows, but most are undetectable by 6-9 months. It is subject to change over time and the amount can be verified as OK at your next scheduled well checkup.
