A member asked:

I had tympanomastoidectomy on 6 march. my ossicles did not have to be removed. how long will it take for my hearing to come back to atleast pre op?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If all the middle ear ossicles are present and moving, the answer depends on what the surgeon did in the middle ear and if you had a graft of fascia. If you had a perforation repaired, that tissue graft can never replace a normal ear drum. Therefore you may never achieve perfectly normal hearing. Ask you surgeon.
