?severity: If severe, than you may need a specialist to intervene with treatment which may include injections or possible carpal tunnel release surgery. To start, rest, cock-up splinting of the wrist, nsaids, and physical therapy can all help. Best wishes.

Yes you can: Yes your primary care doctor can make the diagnosis and prescribe carpal tunnel brace with/without non steroidal meds; physical therapy which may be effective in many cases and if there is poor response he/she will have to refer you for surgery.

Carpal tunnel help: If you have carpal tunnel syndrome, you can start helping by wearing wrist splints that protect your nerve during sleep. If you need surgery or a custom wrist splint, you will need to be referred, or at least call a hand surgeon. If you do not know what you have, help of a different kind is needed.
