Can you get a form of carpal tunnel just in the fingers?

Yes: Carpal tunnel classically presents with numbness in the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger (on the side closer to the thumb). Carpal tunnel is compression of the median nerve in the palm. The median nerve provides sensation to the aforementioned fingers, which is why patients generally have numbness in those fingers, due to compression of the nerve by the transverse carpal ligament.

CTS: Carpal tunnel syndrome is compression of the median nerve in the wrist. Symptoms include numbness or tingling in the thumb, index, middle and half of the fourth finger. Sometimes the pain can radiate all the way up to the shoulder, but this is not as common.
