Atrophy: During menopause the vagina has less estrogen and less lubrication, and ph can also rise, leading to increased propensity for bacterial vaginosis. Gyn doctors uniformly do not recommend douching as it removed your good bacteria (lactobaccilli) and can leave vagina more susceptible to infection with bacterial vaginosis. You may need estrogen or you may need antibiotics or probiotics. See gyn doctor.
