Atrophic vaginitis: This needs to be looked at microscopicly to rule out an infection such as bacterial vaginitis. Atrophic vaginistis more likely if you are not on estrogen replacement therapy.

See below: You may have atrophic vaginitis, which is caused by a multitude of bacteria, called bacterial vaginoses. This is not uncommon in menopausal women. You should have an exam by your gynecologist and make sure nothing else is going on. This infection is easily treated with a cream or pills.
