A member asked:

Lialda dissolves very slowly, so why does its label say "take with food"? -- why would it matter? any pharmaceutical reason i must take it with food?

Pharmacy error: This is made so it will not dissolve until it reaches the colon. No need to take with food!

NO, it does no matte: It does not matter. You can take it with a glass of fluid to make it easy to swallow.

Stomach protection: Lialda is Mesalamine which is in the salicylate class and can irritate the lining of the stomach. Food prevents this.
