See DR.: Depending upon duration, severity, longevity, i would get to a dr. You may be referred to an orthopedic specialist, who can perform a more thorough exam, cat scan, mri? You may just need some specialized physical therapy, but don't do anything until evaluated.

Neck or rotator cuff: Could be a nerve root injury, a rotator cuff strain or an injury to paraspinal muscles. Would recommend initial evaluation by a pcp and then possible referral to an orthopedic surgeon.
