Pituitary: Prolactin is made by the pituitary, specifically the hypothalamus. If you rightly suggested a tumor could be a reason for an elevated prolactin level. A simple MRI procedure can determine this. There are other medical conditions and there are medications which can cause elevations in prolactin. At your age you should see a doctor and be thoroughly evaluated.

Depends: Prolactin, as you've stated can be from pregnancy, a pituitary prolactinoma, or medications (especially antipsychotics). Other reasons for an elevated prolactin include stress, exercise, seizure, or nipple stimulation.
