No: A chest x-ray is a very insensitive test for detection of pe. Ct of chest with contrast is the usual exam ordered if there is clinical suspicion of pe.

Not necessaarily: Pulmonary embolism can frequently display a normal chest exam. If high clinical suspicion for pulmonary embolism then the more sensitive test is chest angiographic CT.
