Optic Neuritis/: Optic neuritis usually resolves within six to eight weeks; never recovers 100%. This is independent of whether you have multiple sclerosis or not.

Some data: Best data I have seen involves usage of Acthar, ACTH in treatment of optic neuritis of all causes. About 92% improvement seen by 4 weeks after therapy initiated. Would expect similar outcome with intravenous methylprednisolone.

Varies: These conditions, especially when associated with MS are commonly treated with infused steroids. But each case is unique and the recovery can be days, weeks and sometimes months. There is no way to predict this with a given case. We try to get in early with the treatment and assume that the earlier, the more likely to get recovery but there are no hard rules.
