Not quite: Many people report constipation after stopping caffeine intake and weight gain likely from increased appetite with cessation of coffee. Most weight loss doctors agree that a cup or 2 of ciffee is okay.

Gastrocolic reflex: Coffee prompts a strong gastrocolic reflex in many people, leading to bowel movements. You mention feeling "backed up, " and i see that you're on morphine and other medications. Morphine can certainly lead to constipation. I suggest talking with your physician about the dose and your bowel function. Going back to coffee is not the path to weight loss.
