Bad biliary disease: Viewed very simplistically, there are 2 types of liver diseases--hepatitis (involves liver cells) ; cholestasis (bile backs up). Bile ducts can become inflamed due to variety of disorders; obstructed due to stones, parasites, tumors, stenosis, or ampullary ;/or pancreatic diseases. If you're duct is truly obstructed ; you have fever you are at risk ; may have cholangitis. Yes, go to the er!

Abdominal pain: Given the abnormal mrcp, you could have pancreatitis, stones in your bile duct. I would definitely seek medical attention.

Can you have a stone in bile duct if gb removed 15 yr ago? Us showed a poss 4mm stone. Mrcp showed dilated hep duct 14mm no stone. Awaiting results MRI with contrast. Ruq pain and nausea. Labs norm.
