AF ablation: Atrial flutter is a simple electrical short circuit in the right atrium and a catheter ablation procedure is very safe and effective (95% permanent cure with one procedure). Atrial fibrillation is a much more complex rhythm pattern and catheter ablation has an average success rate of 70% with a first procedure, with some additional small risks, mostly due to the work being done in the left atrium.
