A member asked:

Are there any types of antibiotics prescribed for facial acne that could disrupt your period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Seek the cause: If your acne has flared and your periods then become disrupted, it is much more likely that there is a problem with your hormonal milieu and you are producing extra androgens. Antibiotics must never be used as sole therapy for acne; be sure you use a second treatment such as topical benzoyl peroxide. Your physician or gynecologist knows how to continue your workup and treatment options.
