A member asked:

I had proteus mirabilis in vagina not in urine. could my husband get it from me since it was in my vagina? how would he get tested

Proteus mirabilis: This common bowel organism, if culture vaginally may or may not be significant because its motility allows it to overgrow other organisms, if any, on the culture plate. It is unlikely, although conceivable, that your husband may become colonized, and potentially infected. Not worth testing for unless he becomes symptomatic.
